The tool checks YouTube's official database and displays the video's default audio language, title language, closed captions status, and any translated titles.
YouTube stores language information in two separate places for every video:
If you are a creator and noticed your video has the wrong language (or shows "Not Specified"), you can fix it in a few clicks:
Yes. YouTube's recommendation system uses your video language to help show your content to viewers who speak that language. If your video is in Spanish but the language is left empty or set to English, YouTube may test your video with English speakers who might click away quickly, hurting your viewer retention. Setting the right language helps YouTube recommend your video to the right audience from day one.

Copy any public YouTube video or Short link, paste it into the search box above, and click Check Language. The tool queries official YouTube Data API records to display the assigned spoken audio language, title and description language, closed captions availability, and all localized translations.
YouTube keeps the main video player simple and hides technical upload settings from viewers. The language chosen by the creator is stored behind the scenes in the video's official metadata, which this tool looks up directly.
Audio language is the language spoken in the video itself. Title and description language is the language used for the written text. For example, a creator can write an English title for a video spoken entirely in Spanish or Hindi.
Sign in to YouTube Studio, click Content from the left menu, click on your video, scroll down to Show More, select your language under Video language and Title and description language, and click Save.
Setting a video language is optional when uploading to YouTube. If a creator skips selecting a language during the upload flow, YouTube records the language field as empty.
